Just when I thought that my life could not any better after I purchased my Pentium 4 HT for personal use just about two months ago. I also got a new computer at office just a few days ago. It is a Dell PowerEdge SC430 Dual Core. It is actually designed to be a low end server but it doubles as a high performance desktop.
Boy is it fast! The applications load really fast and there is no worry about it getting dirty since it is a member of the “All Blacks”. The funny part is that there are no PS2 ports and you have to connect USB Keyboards, Mouse, etc. Basically everything has to be USB to connect to this machine. The only serial port available is for the monitor so I had to donate the Canon printer that I had connected to my previous machine to one of my colleagues.
At all the places I have worked so far I have had to use locally assembled machines and when I joined this new place I began work on a Hewlett Packard Pentium 4 until I crossed over to this new machine.
The low point was that there was no sound card but that was also solved when I got a sound card courtesy my office today. This computer is pretty cool and so far everything is running smoothly.
